Welcome back to the weekly predictions, Premier League fans, and Happy Halloween! We've got more ghoulish domestic league action for you this weekend after the great fright of Carabao Cup matches in the midweek, a competition we all agree is lame and pointless and for a Mickey Mouse trophy. Right?

There's been nothing more spooky this Premier League season for this Liverpool fan than the play of my favorite team itself, but at least-- much like the Reds' weekend opponents -- I personally have drastically turned around my form, and ain't afraid of no ghosts. Last week, I did whiff on Sunderland's upset at Chelsea, and Aston Villa's big home win vs. Manchester City. But I (unfortunately) nailed the all-too-predictable Brentford upset of Liverpool, along with Bournemouth's and Arsenal's 2-0 victories over Nottingham and Crystal Palace, nailing the scoreline in the latter two. That brought my tally up to a 4/5 week, my fourth consecutive strong outing, and taking my season tally to a suddenly sterling 24/30 clip.

But, the matches are already underway this weekend, and are less than 12 hours from kicking back off, so let's not waste any more time coming before the fall. Here are your 5 for Week 10!

Burnley vs. Arsenal

Last weekend was a continuation of the last month or so, which has been so good for Arsenal that their fans are starting to believe it might finally be their year, and this time, they may actually be right. While each of their would-be title rivals continue to flounder around, Arsenal just keep pulling out professional (at least that’s the word the fans and apologists would use to describe their style) victories. Burnley have done well to pick themselves out of the relegation zone and show their mettle in a fight to stay up this season. And Turf Moor is never an easy place to play! But at the end of the day, this is still the best team in the league against one of the worst.

The Pick: Arsenal, 2-0

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Chelsea

In this first clash of big London teams who won European trophies in 2025, I don’t think many people would have expected Tottenham to be the team in a comfortable 3rd place, and Chelsea the one in wildly uneven form, struggling to stay in the Top 4. Spurs still have their bouts of inconsistency, but have generally turned into a composed, well-drilled side in Thomas Frank’s first season at the helm. Chelsea, meanwhile, exhibit the same dynamic they’ve had in the last few seasons, where every time you start to think they’re rounding into form as a viable contender, they’ll hit a stretch of confounding results, like the home loss to Sunderland. I trust Tottenham’s form a little more at this point, but I still don’t totally trust them in big games, and Chelsea are still the much deeper side- I think spoils might be shared in North London.

The Pick: Draw, 1-1

Liverpool vs. Aston Villa

I know the slump will end at some point, and I know this match is at Anfield, but I haven’t seen anything from Liverpool since the start of October to trust them against anyone, let alone a solid team in very good form. Villa's win over City last weekend showed that their turnaround from their dreadful start is very real, and that they are once again capable of being the solid overachievers they have proven to be the last 2 seasons. If Liverpool had shown any signs of major improvement or will or buy-in in their 5 losses in the last month, I'd feel more bullish. But...siiiighh....

The Pick: Aston Villa, 3-1

Sunderland vs. Everton

Serves me right for doubting Sunderland- you know that win at Chelsea had to feel especially good due to the number of skeptics like myself attributing their brilliant start to an easy fixture list thus far. The going should be easier this weekend, but don't tell them that: Everton have been good enough this season to spring a surprise on a team who is coming off a big win and may not be fully locked in. Much as I hate to harsh on a good story, count me in the camp that still considers this hot start for Sunderland fool’s gold, which will vanish once the Black Cats get to the grittier parts of their schedule. That said, I don’t particularly trust Everton to be the ones to end their hot streak at home.

The Pick: Sunderland, 2-1

Manchester City vs. Bournemouth

If you had mentioned preseason that this early November fixture would feature the league’s 2nd-placed team, who started a little imperfect but have been the picture of consistency since, vs. the 5th-placed team, who are exciting and have shown flashes of brilliance but also a proclivity to lapses in form, I think just about every single person would have incorrectly guessed which team is which. Indeed, it’s little Bournemouth who have continued to punch above their weight in the league and been arguably the most consistent side in England at the moment, unexpectedly placing them in the thick of a title race. And it’s City who continue to struggle to find a foothold as they try to bounce back from their worst season under Pep Guardiola, interspersing brilliant outings with lackluster ones like their home loss to Villa last weekend. I never expected to say “could go either way!!” about a match between one of the league’s wealthiest teams vs. one of its least wealthy, but that’s the case here. At the end of the day, though, a City team desperate for a win to stay relevant in the title race? Playing at home against a little guy that dares to dream? Hard not to see that ending with the big bullies getting a comprehensive win.

The Pick: Man City, 3-1
