Premier League (Restart) Predictions, Week 38

© Micah Veldkamp, 2019

Welcome back to your Premier League predictions! We have finally, after many delays, twists and turns, FINALLY reached Championship Sunday.

This day won't feature the title drama that last year's race provided, as Liverpool have been champions for 4 months now. But it does feature intense battles for Champions League spots, Europa League sports, and safety from relegation.

Look, I'm gonna cut to the chase. I'm at the beach, and forgot to do this and now matches are starting in 10 minutes. So, I only got 2 right (though one was a correct prediction of Aston Villa upsetting Arsenal). I'm at 85.5/139 on the season. I know this is not the thoughtful analysis that the last week of the season deserves, but hey, it's been a weird rushed end to the season anyhow.

For the last time in two months...here are your 6 for Week 38:

Newcastle United vs. Liverpool

A historically tough match for Liverpool anyhow gets even more tough with Liverpool, record out of reach and trophy in hand, having little to play for.

The Pick: Draw, 1-1

Everton vs. Bournemouth

The Cherries will put up a strong fight to avoid relegation, but getting a win on the road against a resurgent Toffees side is probably too tall a task today.

The Pick: Draw, 2-2

West Ham vs. Aston Villa

West Ham's safety has been confirmed, and Villa just need a win to stay up; the talent gap isn't big enough between the two, so you have to go with the motivation factor.

The Pick: Aston Villa, 2-0

Arsenal vs. Watford

Arsenal is as inconsistent as the day is long, and Watford's attack, desperate for a result, is more than capable of putting goals past them; but Mikel Arteta is the real deal, and Watford's interim manager was given a near-impossible task.

The Pick: Arsenal, 3-1

Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves' second consecutive remarkable season would lead to a more thrilling conclusion if they were still alive in the Champions League race; as it is, it will be tough, but Chelsea will get the job done.

The Pick: Chelsea, 3-2

Leicester City vs. Manchester United

I want to believe the Foxes will have enough in the tank to earn a Champions League spot that they deserved in February, but their freefall down the stretch makes me think this can only go one way.

The Pick: Manchester United, 2-1
